MEET OUR TENNIS PROFessionals

David Sturdyvin

Tennis Pro • Director of Tennis

David Sturdyvin is a USPTA Tennis Pro and registered with PPR. He began his career in 1988 as the Head Coach of the Men’s & women’s teams at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Over the last 3 years, David has been spending his time as a Tennis Instructor at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, California, spending summers working at the Vancouver Tennis Center. He served as the Head Tennis Pro at The Dalles Fitness and Court Club for 10 years and has returned to The Dalles Athletic Club to fill the role of Director of Tennis. David has a passion for tennis and loves working with kids to keep the sport relevant for generations to come. David has added a full schedule of Drills, Kids Tennis programs, Hit n Fit, Tournaments, and Socials for Tennis and Pickleball. Additionally, he is available for Private or Semi-Private lessons, 3 & Me and 4 & Me Tennis and Pickleball play.

DEBBY JONES

Tennis Pro

Debby Jones is a certified tennis instructor through the United States National Tennis Academy. She is the current The Dalles High School Varsity Girls Tennis Coach and has been coaching tennis for over 20 years. She was the 2022 Intermountain Conference coach of the year. As a coach and instructor, Debby has helped guide USTA teams to nationals. As a player herself, she has competed at USTA nationals six times. She represented the Pacific Northwest in the 35 and older women’s division at the USTA National Intersectional Championships in Houston, Texas, and was ranked number two in women’s 35 singles for the Pacific Northwest area. Currently, she enjoys sharing her love of the sport with both old and young, and is nerdy about finding new strategies and techniques to help improve the skills of every player she has the privilege to work with.

Adam Rahmlow

Tennis Pro

Adam Rahmlow is a USPTA-certified tennis pro with a decade of experience in the tennis industry. Adam came to The Dalles after serving up years of tennis, school, and software sales in wet Portland, where he practiced with the Men's team at Portland State and coached PSU's traveling club team, making it to nationals twice. He was the assistant coach for a D3 women's team back in Wisconsin, where he grew up, and where he got his start teaching junior tennis, running drills, and organizing adult play. He has always been more of a doubles player, going back to the state championship in high school, and has taught tennis and junior sports for over 10 years, at (now) The Wisconsin Athletic Club, Mequon Racquet Club The Hilton, Concordia, and Portland State Universities, and The Multnomah Athletic Club. Furthermore, he holds a bachelor's degree in development economics from Portland State, and received his tennis instructor's training at the USTA National Campus, in Orlando. Adam loves playing and teaching tennis with players of all ages and abilities and is excited to create memorable on-court experiences with other 'tennis people', his favorite!

We have a variety of Drill Classes available to our Tennis Members. Beginners to more advanced tennis players will be able to find a class that fits their skill level. Below is a list of drill classes and their times.

  • High School Drills with David – 4:00pm-5:30pm

    Open Play Tennis with David – 6:00pm-8:00pm

    Tennis Drill with Debby – 6:00pm-7:30pm

  • Kids Hot Shots with David – 3:30pm-4:00pm

    Kids Aces with David - 4:00pm-4:30pm

    Beginner Tennis Drill with David – 5:30pm-6:30pm

  • High School Drills with David – 4:00pm-5:30pm

    Men’s Night Tennis Drill with David – 6:00pm-8:00pm

  • Kids Hot Shots with David – 3:30pm-4:30pm

    Kids Aces with David – 4:30pm-5:30pm

    Shot of the Week Drill with David – 6:30pm-8:00pm

  • Ladies Night Drill with David – 5:30pm-8:00pm

  • Tennis Drill with David – 10:00am-11:30am
